Café Bar Ricardo
I remember with nostalgia my first independent visit to a bar in Malaga back in 1984.
It was called Café Bar Ricardo, where exquisite cocktails were served at the bar of the establishment that evoked the most famous ones in Cuban Havana.
As I was told that day, its cocktails seduced Ava Gardner herself when she visited the capital of Malaga in 1955.
It was located at number 1 on the famous Calle Larios.
Honestly, in those years they were the best aperitifs that could be had in Malaga before lunch or dinner in one of the historic restaurants in the area.
Its host was called Ricardo, a magnificent barman, who served customers while they were sitting on high and elegant wooden stools.
It was common to see prominent members of the world of Malaga culture of the time gathered around the bar. It is also said that fruitful business deals were forged at that bar over legendary cocktails.
Nowadays, mixed drinks, cocktails and select spirits have become the focus of many gatherings. Gone are the days of the mixed drink or cognac.
